Frequently Asked Questions

I live in East Perth; can my dog Pickles go on an adventure?

While we would love to take Pickles on the adventure of a lifetime, at this stage we are picking up within roughly a 7km driving radius from Palmyra. Our limit suburbs are Hamilton Hill to the south, Booragoon to the east and Cottesloe to the north. If you’re unsure whether you are in our area, just ask!

How old does my dog Buster have to be to join in?

As soon as Buster has had his final vaccinations and is given the all clear to explore the outside world, he can come on an adventure! We customise the groups to suit your dog’s needs and Buster will be put in a group with similar personalities & energy levels. Socialising your dog from a young age can be hugely beneficial and help you end up with a well-rounded social dog.

My dog Sammy doesnt get on with other dogs - do you offer one-on-one walks?

Unfortunately all of our sessions are in a group with up to 7 dogs at a time, so good socialisation and temperament is critical for our sessions. We dont offer any one-on-one sessions at this stage. Sorry Sammy!

Can my dog come on adventures if they are not desexed?

Yes. However, we will not take your intact dog while they are on heat & we will not take an intact dog if there is another intact dog of the opposite sex already attending: first in best dressed! While we take the utmost care of your dog while they are out on an adventure, we cannot guarantee that other dogs we may meet along the way have all been spayed.

Where do you go adventuring?

Where don’t we go adventuring! We explore all over Perth looking for the biggest seaweed piles, longest puddles and sturdiest sticks. Bush, beach, river, park; you name it, we go there.

My dog Billy doesn’t have great recall. Can he go on an adventure?

Distractions are distracting. And by distractions we mean birds, and sticks, and butterflies and puddles and…. We get it, and where we go, there’s plenty of them. However, whilst recall doesn’t have to be flawless, your dog does need to have a reliable base of recall skills; all our adventures are completely off leash and whilst we always go adventuring where our dogs can roam completely carefree, we do need to be able to call Billy back when necessary. If unsure – ask us!

I’ve filled out the sign-up sheet – now what?

Email us through the sign-up sheet & we will get in touch with you pronto! After we have some of your details the next step is to organise a quick 15-minute meet & greet so we can get to know your needs a little better & Frankie can have a chat with your pooch.

My dog had a bad run in with a sausage dog – how will you deal with this?

Give us as much information as you can on the sign-up sheet about everything your dog loves and hates! E.g; Frankie loves seaweed, rolling in seaweed & eating things she finds in seaweed, but she barks at prams. The more we know about your dog the more we can tailor adventures and make sure that we avoid anything that could cause stress.

How long does an adventure go for?

The actual outdoor part of each adventure goes for a minimum of an hour. When you take into account pickups, drop offs and getting to the ultimate adventure zone, your dog could be with us for up to 3 hours.

What time are adventures?

Adventures take place between 9am and 5pm. We organise our schedule to factor in transit between pickups, weather patterns and travel times to adventure spots, so we dont have fixed times. We also arrange the groups to ensure personalities and energy levels are well matched, so unfortunately we cant take bookings for a particular time of day. However we can let you know a pickup ETA the night before a session to help with your planning!

I'm going away for 2 weeks and my dog is being house sat at home. Can I just sign him up for a few sessions while I'm away?

We are only accepting new recruits on an ongoing/regular basis, unfortunately not for short periods like holidays. This is because we put in a lot of hard work to bring your dog onboard, including building a personality profile and matching them with other likeminded pups! We also adapt our staffing levels based on our ongoing cohort, so its difficult to accommodate one-off or short term attendees.

Rain, hail or shine… really?

Yep! We adventure every day. Thunderstorms are the only no-go for us, but usually we can work around them. If the weather is ever too severe for us to adventure in, we will give you as much notice as possible, however we haven't cancelled an adventure due to weather yet! af

Bailey doesn’t chat much at the dinner table – how do I know that she had a good time?

You will get a personalised text + a stack of photos of Bailey outside enjoying her adventure! Please feel free to use the photos that we send however you like but please give us photo credit wherever possible @frankieandcoadventures
